Fun & Cute Easter Basket Ideas for Toddlers (Teens & Adults too!)

Easter is coming up so fast and I’m just not ready!

Where does the time go??

I was digging through some old photos last night looking for my son’s hockey schedule and came across the CUTEST pictures of the twins on their first Easter egg hunt.

They were barely 3 years old with their tiny little baskets…my daughter in this frilly pink dress and my son in these blue corduroy pants that I was obsessed with.

He kept putting all his eggs in her basket because he wanted to use his to collect rocks instead.

Now here we are and they’re almost 13 and asking for gift cards and electronics in their Easter baskets.

Like what?? When did my babies turn into these mini adults with opinions and style and attitudes?

I’ve been doing Easter baskets for the twins since they were basically newborns and even tho they’re getting older I’m not giving up the tradition.

Just adjusting it a bit!

So today I wanted to share some Easeter basket ideas and kid gift basket ideas that work for the little ones but also some tips for those of you with older kids who are in that awkward too cool for kiddie stuff but still want the basket” phase.

Trust me I’m right there with you!

DIY Easter Baskets for Kids

Have you ever wanted to create a special Easter basket that your kids will actually remember?

With just a few supplies and some creativity, you can make a personalized basket that’s way better than anything from the store and totally matches your kiddo’s personality.

1. DIY Unicorn Easter Basket

Want to make the cutest unicorn Easter basket ever? Your little one will totally flip when they see this magical creation!

Start with a plain white basket from the dollar store.

Cut strips of black felt for eyelashes and glue them onto the front, fanning them out in different lengths.

Add three pink pompoms in a triangle shape on the front for the nose. Just be careful with that hot glue!

For the horn, roll pink fabric into a cone and secure with glue, then wrap with silver ribbon.

Cut two ear shapes from pink fabric with silver fabric insides and attach to the sides of the basket.

Fill with colorful Easter eggs and unicorn-themed goodies.

Your kiddo might love it so much they’ll keep it in their room long after Easter is over!

2. DIY Crafting Fun Easter Basket

This craft-themed basket is so cute for your little artist!

Grab any basket and line it with colorful tissue paper instead of messy plastic grass. Stand bright crayons around the inside edge for a pop of color.

Add a few bottles of washable paint (trust me on the washable part!), rolled-up coloring books, and some construction paper in the center.

Tuck in glue sticks, stickers, and maybe some kid-safe scissors too for some fun Easter crafts to make.

You can still sneak a few chocolate eggs between the supplies for a sweet treat.

This basket is a total lifesaver on rainy Easter days when you need the kids occupied while you hide the rest of the eggs or just enjoy your coffee!

3. DIY Easter Candy Basket

Here’s a simple Easter basket your kids will love.

Just grab any basket and fill the bottom with Easter grass (the paper kind is way less messy than plastic).

Load it up with their favorite candy like chocolate eggs, jelly beans, and maybe a chocolate bunny!

Tuck in some plastic eggs filled with smaller treats too.

Place the filled basket in the middle of clear cellophane wrap, pull it up around the sides, and gather at the top.

Tie with a pretty pastel ribbon and curl the ends with scissors for that fancy look.

Hot glue a small fake carrot to the ribbon for that extra cute touch!

The whole thing takes like 10 minutes but looks like you spent way more effort.

4. Popping Fun Easter Basket

If your child can’t sit still, then this “popping” themed Easter basket is totally perfect for them!

It’s full of fidgety fun that even my almost-teenagers thought was cool.

Start with any basket and add a bag of popcorn kernels or microwave popcorn with some fun seasonings.

Toss in a few colorful bath bombs that fizz and pop in the water . Even boys secretly love these!

Add some bubble gum for blowing and popping bubbles, plus those super popular Pop It fidget toys that come in tons of different shapes and colors.

My kids are STILL completely obsessed with these!

For extra fun, include some Pop Rocks candy (if your kids haven’t tried these yet, you’re in for some laughs!) and maybe a popup book or two.

It’s the perfect basket for energetic kiddos who love things that make noise and keep their hands busy!

5. Toddler Easter Basket Idea

This is a no-fuss basket with everything your little one will actually use!

Start with a sturdy, low-sided basket that tiny hands can easily reach into.

Add a new sippy cup or toddler cup with their favorite character – it’s both a cute basket filler and something practical!

Toss in some Welch’s fruit snacks (the perfect toddler treat that feels like candy but has “fruit” in the name).

Add a small chocolate bunny or a few foil-wrapped chocolate eggs, but not too many unless you want a sugar-crazed toddler running circles around your Easter dinner!

Include a simple coloring book with those chunky, toddler-friendly crayons that don’t break easily.

The best part?

Toddlers often love the empty basket just as much as the goodies inside.

I mean I remember my twins used to wear theirs as hats after emptying them!

6. Toddler Girl Easter Basket

Isn’t this toddler girl basket super cute? What’s great is that it’s also simple to DIY it!

Start with a pretty pastel basket lined with paper Easter grass (skip the plastic kind for safety).

Add a Disney Princess puzzle with big pieces that little hands can easily manage.

Toss in some Crayola Silly Scents crayons or markers (washable only!).

Toddlers love the fun smells and bright colors.

Include a couple My Little Pony or unicorn toys with colorful manes they can play with.

Maybe add a cute unicorn headband with a horn and ears for adorable Easter photos.

Finish with a few toddler-friendly treats like bunny graham crackers or fruit snacks.

At this age, they get so excited about everything in their basket and the magic of those little gasps is totally worth the effort!

7. Minie Mouse Easter Basket

Want an Easter “basket” that’s actually useful after the holiday?

Use Minnie Mouse rain boots instead of a traditional basket!

Just grab a pair of those adorable Minnie boots with the red polka dots in your child’s size.

Stand them side by side and wrap clear cellophane around both, gathering at the top and tying with a red polka dot ribbon.

Fill the boots with Minnie-themed treasures!

Tuck in a small Minnie Mouse stuffie, a Minnie coloring book with some red crayons, and maybe some Minnie mittens or hair clips.

The best part?

After Easter, your little one gets to wear their special boots when it rains!

8. Race Car Easter Basket

If you have a little speed demon, then this race car themed basket is guaranteed to make your toddler boy’s face light up!

Use a red or blue basket, or get creative and use a plastic dump truck or toy wagon as your “basket” container.

Fill it with a few small Hot Wheels or toy race cars that are perfect for little hands.

Add a soft mini soccer ball or squishy sports ball, plus a stuffed bunny in “boyish” colors like blue or green to keep the Easter theme.

For treats, include some Pop Rocks (toddlers are amazed by the popping sensation!) and maybe a Fun Dip for supervised sugar fun.

Toss in some Bunny Grahams or Goldfish as less sugary options too.

Just remember to go easy on the candy unless you want a turbo-charged toddler zooming around your house all Easter afternoon!

9. Boy Themed Easter Basket

Need a simple Easter basket your little guy will love?

This toddler-friendly basket is super easy to put together!

Start with a blue, green, or red basket or use one of those plastic buckets with handles that are perfect for little hands.

Add a couple small stuffed bunnies.

Include some colorful plastic Easter eggs since toddlers often love opening and closing them just as much as finding treats inside!

Stand a few flat disc lollipops in the basket like little flowers for a pop of color.

Toss in some small toys like dinosaurs, cars, or mini construction vehicles.

Add a bubble wand (guaranteed toddler entertainment!) and maybe a simple coloring book with chunky, toddler-proof crayons.

10. Hockey Fan Easter Basket

Got a hockey-obsessed kid?

Ahem….my son has been playing hockey since he was 5.

This Easter basket will totally score a hat trick with your little fan!

Use a hockey helmet as the ‘basket.’

Tuck in a couple mini wooden hockey sticks, a team logo water bottle they can actually use at practices, and a chocolate bunny (because it’s Easter, after all!).

The perfect finishing touch?

A hockey puck or two for some fun action play.

Easter Basket Ideas for Teens

With the twins turning 13 soon, I’ve had to completely rethink my Easter basket game because apparently stuffed bunnies and plastic eggs don’t cut it anymore!

If you’re also struggling with what to put in your almost-teen or teenager’s Easter basket, I’ve got some ideas that won’t earn you eye rolls (or at least fewer eye rolls than usual).

Phone Charger Cables

I know it sounds boring but the colorful braided ones are super popular and teens ALWAYS need extras. Jack’s are constantly disappearing and Sophie’s get all bent up in her backpack.

Sheet Face Masks

The fun animal-themed ones are usually just $1-3 each and even my boy secretly loves these (tho he’d die if his hockey friends knew). My daughter does them with her friends during sleepovers.

Mini Bluetooth Speaker

You can find these for under $15 at places like Five Below or Amazon. Jack uses his in the shower and when he’s shooting hockey pucks in the driveway.

Gift cards for Small Amounts

Even just $5 to Starbucks or $10 to the movies makes them feel grown up. Sophie acts like I gave her gold when she gets her Starbucks card!

Crazy Socks

Teens are weirdly obsessed with fun socks right now. The twins both wear these mismatched crazy patterns that cost like $3-4 a pair. Easy basket filler!

Scrunchies/Hair Ties for Girls or Sports Team Accessories for Boys

Sophie loves those velvet scrunchies and Jack likes anything with his favorite teams on it. Both cost just a few bucks.

Scratch-Off Mini Games

Those little lottery-style scratch cards with jokes or challenges inside. Five Below has tons of these for just $3-5 and the twins think they’re hilarious.

Lip Balm in Weird Flavors

Both boys and girls use these and the novelty flavors like “pickle” or “birthday cake” make them laugh. Sophie collects these like they’re going out of style!

Pop Culture Blind Bags

Those mystery mini figures from whatever they’re into (anime, gaming, sports). Usually around $5 each and the surprise element is half the fun.

Fidget Toys

Even teens still love these! Those pop-it keychains, simple spinners, or the little magnetic balls are all under $5 and keep their hands busy during homework.

The best part? Almost everything on this list is under $10 and way more exciting to them than another chocolate bunny that’ll be gone in a day!

Easter Basket Ideas for Adults

Easter baskets might be traditionally for kids, but my husband has been giving me the puppy dog eyes for years watching the twins get their baskets!

And well, I don’t shy away from getting chocolate or a good book either!

Creating fun grown-up Easter baskets has become our little tradition now, and honestly, adults get just as excited about a thoughtful basket tailored to their interests.

Coffee Lover’s Basket

Fill a cute mug with coffee beans, flavored syrups, biscotti, and maybe a gift card to their favorite coffee shop.

My husband is basically non-functional without his morning coffee, so this one’s always a hit at our house!

Book Lover’s Delight

Include a new release from their favorite author, some fancy chocolate to enjoy while reading, a cute bookmark, and maybe some herbal tea.

This is something – hint hint hubby – that I would love to get!

Garden Starter Kit

Add seed packets, cute gardening gloves, small tools, and maybe a plant-themed mug or some flower-shaped chocolates.

Timley for spring and way more fun than just giving plants that’ll probably die when I forget to water them (speaking from experience).

Self-Care Sanctuary

Fill with bath bombs, face masks, scented candles, and some gourmet chocolates. Even guys appreciate this one.

I know my husband would never buy himself fancy soaps but he totally uses the ones I put in his basket!

Movie Night Magic

Include microwave popcorn, movie-theater candy boxes, a cozy throw blanket, and maybe a DVD or streaming service gift card.

Add some bunny-shaped chocolates to keep it Easter themed!

Wine Enthusiast Collection

Add a bottle of wine, pretty stemless glasses, wine-infused chocolates, and some fancy cheese or crackers.

My neighbor did this for her husband last year and said it was their date night in a basket!

Hobby Helper

Fill with items specific to their hobby like golf balls and tees for golfers, yarn and needles for knitters, or art supplies for creative types.

Gourmet Chocolate Tasting

For the ultimate chocolate lover, create a basket with different high-quality chocolate bars for tasting like dark, milk, sea salt, etc.

Add a cute tasting notebook and pen for them to record their favorites.

Have Some Easter Basket Fun!

I hope you found some good Easter basket goodies to add for your children and family members!

I can’t wait to surprise my twins with these fun Easter basket ideas!
